Generate is an informally constituted group of five Chief Executives, including our own Nick Atkin, who have chosen to develop their leadership skills by learning from each other in a very open, supportive and non-competitive way.

Since the group first came together in 2004, this bold experiment in trust has helped each of them in different ways, to become better leaders for their organisation, consequently ensuring better services for their customers.

Endorsed positively by the Audit Commission, it has proved that organisations and leaders facing similar challenges have much to learn from each other and that, given the right framework and support, this can happen in a surprisingly powerful way.

It has also provided an interesting model for collaboration that others may wish to explore, perhaps as an alternative to more formal alliances such as mergers and group structures

Members of Generate have also been working together with Fusion 21 on joint procurement initiatives.  Insurance Services and Legal Services Frameworks have been developed which have enabled each of the group members to achieve significant cost savings.  These Frameworks can also be accessed by non members of Generate.
