Make tackling debt your New Year’s resolution
HOUSING Trust customers with money worries are being urged to make tackling their debts a New Year’s resolution.
Halton Housing Trust’s Money Advisors are helping customers to tackle any debt or money problems they might have as the credit crunch continues to bite.
The Advisors can help customers to set up bank accounts, including paying the £1 joining fee for opening an account at the Credit Union, as well as offering free, non-judgmental advice about welfare benefits and budgeting.
“People struggling with money issues can often bury their heads in the sand, but in the long run this just makes the problem worse,” said Money Advisor Claire Creed.
“Once you take that step and face up to the problem we can help you take control and support you in dealing with any debt problems.
“We would urge people to make it their New Year’s resolution to improve their family’s wellbeing by contacting us for help.”
The Trust is also advising customers to avoid loan sharks in the period leading up to Christmas.
