08/02/2011 - Customers offered help to furnish their homes

Halton Housing Trust is offering vulnerable customers without basic furniture grants of up to £1,000 to make their house a home.

The Trust has launched the scheme to help customers who do not have access to what the majority of people take for granted as basic furnishings.

“Through this Assisted Furniture Scheme these customers, who must meet set criteria and have their grants approved by a panel, can be offered a choice of goods worth up to £1,000,” said Noel Sharpe, Director of Customer Services.

The Trust is also offering grants for people looking to downsize and move to a smaller home, freeing up much needed family accommodation.  These grants are used to assist with moving costs, connection of utilities and forwarding post.
