Home seekers to be offered greater choice

A NEW way for people to choose where they want to live will be introduced in Halton soon.

Halton Housing Trust is working in partnership with surrounding local authorities and social landlords to provide people with a greater choice on where they will live.

“The new bidding method will give people more options and provide a more flexible way to find a home,” said Pat Hansen, Housing Options Manager for Halton Housing Trust.

People will be able to bid for prospective homes they like based on their needs..

Property Pool Plus will operate in partnership with local authorities and landlords in Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral.

The scheme is due to launch in spring / summer 2012 and will bring a new way of applying for and being offered homes.

It will allow those looking for a home to apply for a property outside of their area and Halton Housing Trust will soon write to everyone on the housing waiting list to offer more information.

“This greater partnership working between housing providers will be of huge benefit to those seeking a home,” said Pat Hansen.
