Trust employees support Hospice’s Twilight Walk
HALTON Housing Trust employees donned their walking shoes to raise money for a local charity.
Around 50 Trust employees and their families took part in the10k Twilight Walk on Saturday, July 2, in aid of Halton Haven Hospice.
The group also included members of Heath Rangers Football Club, which the Trust has supported over the last three years.
Vikki Mack, PA to the Executive Team and lead coordinator for charitable activities at the Trust, said: “It was a lovely summer’s evening and everybody really enjoyed it.
“It is a great way for families to get out in the fresh air while raising money that will allow the hospice to continue its fantastic work.”
The Hospice provides a ‘home-from-home’ environment and vital round-the-clock care for people with life-limiting illnesses. This costs £2.1million a year and the charity relies on local donations to raise 60 per cent of its operating costs.
The Trust is supporting the hospice for the third year running as one of its nominated charities. It entered a team in the Twilight Walk last year, but even more turned out to put their best foot forward in 2011.
Trust employees also chose to support Halton CAB as its other nominated charity this year and have a number of events planned to support both organisations.
Nick Atkin, Chief Executive of Halton Housing Trust, said: “I’m really proud that so many people who work at the Trust once again chose to support this key event in the hospice’s calendar. It shows the importance that our colleagues attach to the fantastic work the Hospice provides to people across Runcorn and Widnes.”
