“We know there are so many people out there who give up their free time to help others in their community and we want to reward them for their wonderful work,” said Hazel Lea, Legal Support Officer at Halton Housing Trust.
“The dedication of these selfless volunteers can have a huge impact on people’s lives and this is a brilliant opportunity for their efforts to be recognised.”
Halton Housing Trust owns and manages more than 6,100 homes around Runcorn and Widnes and nominees must be one of the Trust’s customers.
There are four categories in the awards. The Good Neighbour Award is for those who have demonstrated qualities such as a willingness to visit people living on their own, or in hospital, or offering lifts or assisting the community.
The Laura Harrison Community Award is for individuals or couples who have undertaken outstanding voluntary work for a long period, such as running a sports club, youth club or social club.
The Youth Award celebrates the achievements of a young person under the age of 21 whether through volunteering, a personal journey, in the arts, the environment, community development or as a carer.
A customer who has made a positive stand against anti-social behaviour will be selected by the Trust and will receive the Taking A Stand Award.
“If you think someone in your community is a star, this is your chance to show them your support and give them a chance to shine,” said Hazel.
All winners will receive £100 and nomination forms must be handed in by Friday, January 20, 2012.
They are available from any Halton Housing Trust offices or by calling: 0151 510 5036 or by emailing: hazel.lea@haltonhousing.org
