12/08/2011 - National recognition for Trust's support

HALTON Housing Trust has received national recognition for its work with Halton Haven Hospice.
The Trust – which has supported the Hospice for the past five years – has been nominated for The Charity Times Corporate Community Local Involvement Award.

“We are very proud of our achievements working with Halton Haven and to receive this nomination is an acknowledgement of the hard work and commitment that has gone into this partnership by both parties,” said Vikki Mack, PA to the Executive Team at Halton Housing Trust.

The Charity Times Awards are now in their 12th year and continue to be the pre-eminent celebration of best practice in the UK charity and not-for-profit sector.

The awards are an opportunity to reward the work carried out to support charities in difficult and competitive conditions.

For Halton Housing Trust it will be a chance to mark its relationship with the Hospice.
The not-for-profit organisation – which employs 240 people – has been raising money for charities since it was formed in 2005.

It holds regular fundraisers as well as entering high profile events such as the English Half Marathon and the Halton Five Mile road race.

“Our nominated charities are key partners for and we actively encourage our customers and stakeholders to support them,” said Vikki.

As well as raising money, the Trust also provides specialist support for the hospice.
Projects supported by the Trust – along with its contractors Bramhall and Sure Maintenance – include:
• Patio doors fitted to three of the patients’ rooms to help those suffering from respiratory issues.

• An extension to the hospice.
• Corridors and patients rooms decorated.
• Visitors’ room upgraded with access to a larger kitchen.
• Solar panel fitted for energy efficiency on the heating and hot water.

Carole Gibbard, Chair of the Trustees for Halton Haven Hospice, said: “We have to say a huge thank you to the Trust and its employees because their support has made a huge difference to use over the past five years.”

The winners will be announced on October 12th at the Awards Gala Dinner in London.
