The Trust officially opened a new £2.3million housing scheme on Friday 13th June.
Halton Housing Trust’s flagship development has provided much-needed homes for young families and people living with a range of health needs. The scheme includes 12 apartments at Viking Court and a further six bungalows at Elizabeth Court and Charlotte Walk.
MP Derek Twigg, Rob Polhill and Angela McNamara from Halton Borough Council and representatives from Bramall Construction and Plus Dane Group attended the event.
Trust customers were also invited to the ceremony in the gardens at the development, which some of the new residents helped to design.
“It seemed so appropriate to bring everyone together to mark this occasion because it really has been a shining example of real partnership working,” said Nick Atkin, Chief Executive of Halton Housing Trust.
“We are very proud of our flagship development, which signals a bright new future for us and our customers and further reinforces the importance of future partnership approaches and funding schemes.”
Michael Hill and his family were heavily involved in the design of their bungalow, even down to laying the first brick. Michael said; “It has been fantastic for the family to be so involved in this scheme both in terms of ensuring our bungalow suited our needs but also as the scheme is so important for the Trust. We are so pleased with our new home and looking forward to our future here.”
The scheme includes several homes which have included customised adaptations to make life easier for people living with a range of health needs.
The Trust committed £1.3million of it’s own money to the contemporary development, with £1million coming from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Bramall Construction built the homes and Plus Dane Group has helped to manage the project.
MP Derek Twigg said “Clarke Gardens was an essential development to help address the need for social housing in Halton.
“I would like to congratulate Halton Housing Trust and its partners for their incredible efforts in putting together a development that enhances the environment around it and provides much-needed homes.”
“I hope that the new residents will be very happy living in Clarke Gardens and that Halton Housing Trust continues to provide more homes in the area going forward.”
