HALTON HOUSING TRUST brought a taste of the seaside to the residents of The Grange, Runcorn with a ‘Beach Bonanza’ event at the Grangeway Community Centre on Saturday 8th August.
Visitors to the event, organised in partnership with Halton Borough Council, were treated to donkey rides, ice creams, balloon artists, face painters and an artificial beach. The Runcorn Wrestling Academy put a show on in the community centre, while the Café dished out burgers and hot dogs to the hungry residents. A raffle was also held on the day where the top prize was a signed Liverpool FC shirt donated by the club.

Noel Sharpe, Director of Customer Services, said: “It was a great day out for local people. It was about bringing fun and entertainment, free of charge, to local families, while working with our partners in the community. This year we moved away from the traditional fun day and decided to theme it around a day at the seaside. In the current economic climate it’s quite an expense for families to go away on holiday, so we thought - why not bring a taste of the seaside to our customers.”
“We couldn’t have done it on our own and a big thank you must go to all the organisations that helped make the day such a success. We plan to build on this event and provide a great day each year for our customers.”
Many of the Trust’s partners supported the event including the Halton Safety Partnership who donated £750, Bramall Construction added £350 to the pot and Connaught provided £150. Bullock, as well as donating money, also supplied the back drop to the beach, sending their own workforce to build it.
