Everybody needs good neighbours this winter
NEIGHBOURS are being urged to look out for each other if harsh weather strikes again this winter.
Halton Housing Trust has produced a leaflet providing advice to its residents about how they can cope, and help to support their neighbours , if Runcorn and Widnes is affected by severe weather conditions similar to last year.
“If you have elderly or vulnerable neighbours all it can take is a quick 10-minute visit to check that they are managing,” said Noel Sharpe, Director of Customer Services.
“It could make a huge difference, even if it just reassures them that someone is looking out for them.”
The Trust’s leaflet also carries advice about how to reduce heating costs, tips to avoid burst pipes and reporting existing defects which could be made worse by the weather.
Construction Service employees are also showing customers where their stop tap is located in their property in case of emergency over the winter.
“Harsh weather can cause real disruption and hardship but we are helping our residents to prepare now to minimise the effects,” said Noel.
