Father hopes to inspire others to help in the community
A FATHER who has become a Board Member at Halton Housing Trust hopes to inspire younger people to get involved in the community.
Stephen Pimbblet, 43, has become Lead Member for Housing Services as part of the Trust Board and hopes to show that it is possible to volunteer while looking after a family and holding down a job.
“I think it is especially important at the moment that everyone does something to help in the community,” he said. “If what I do encourages younger people to get more involved then that will be a great achievement.”
Stephen has a partner, a four-year-old son and works as a Training Officer in the warehouse division at Tesco in Widnes.
But he still plans to make time to represent customers at Trust meetings and fulfil his other duties as Lead Member for Housing Services on the Board.
Although wanting to inspire other young people to ‘do their bit’ he wants to work with the Trust for the good of all its customers.
“There are a lot of older people in the area where I live around Grangeway who I talk to regularly so I want to speak for them as well,” he said.
There are 12 members of the Board made up of four customers, four Local Authority appointees and four independents who, with their professional skills, set the direction of the business.
The Board's role is to make strategic and major policy decisions, set the budget and monitor company performance. Mark Dennett, from Runcorn, has also recently been appointed to the Board by Halton Borough Council. He serves as a Councillor in the Grange ward.
Also serving as an independent Board Member is Mark Forrest who played a key role in the development of the Mersey Multi Modal Gateway in Widnes. He put himself forward as a way of ‘putting something back’ into the community.
Ingrid Fife, Chair of the Board, said: “Our new members will bring more skills and different views to the Board which will be invaluable.
“Our Board acts in the best interests of the Trust and its customers and I am sure the new members will add real value to the work that is done.”
