Just 16 months after its launch Halton Housing Trust has been given the green light by its regulator.
In a report published today Halton Housing Trust, which owns and manages around 6,100 homes in Runcorn and Widnes, has been assessed as having three ‘green traffic lights’ as part of its assessment by the Housing Corporation, the Government agency that regulates housing associations.
The assessment measures the extent to which housing associations manage their business effectively across three main areas; these are whether the organisation is financially viable, properly governed and properly managed. An appropriate traffic light colour is then allocated.
“We’re absolutely delighted with the outcome from the Housing Corporation’s assessment of the Trust, especially when considering the scale of changes we have had to put into place in such a short period of time,” said Nick Atkin, Halton Housing Trust’s Chief Executive.
“This reflects the efforts made by the Trust to lay the foundations for its future success. This result now means we can focus our efforts on what is really important to us – improving the quality of services to our customers and delivering our £129 million investment programme
“The report will assist us in delivering these improvements and provides us with some clear areas where we need to focus our energies.”
John Carleton, The Housing Corporation's Director for the North, said: “We are very pleased to announce that Halton Housing Trust has gained three green lights in its latest Housing Corporation Assessment. This demonstrates that they have successfully met or exceeded the standards set across three key performance areas needed to ensure the quality of the services they offer to the people of Halton".
