The Audit Commission will be inspecting us during the week beginning 12 May.
The Commission is an independent body that makes sure public money is spent wisely and delivers high quality local services.
We’ve been preparing for the inspection with our logo ‘Reach for the Stars’ which we’ll continue to use in the future. It sums up our approach to delivering quality.
Two Audit Commission Inspectors and one Customer Inspector will be taking a look at these areas of our services:
- Tenancy and Estate Management – the work our Housing Officers, Estate Services Teams and Anti-Social Behaviour Team.
- Stock Investment and Asset Management – the Investment programme, repairs, voids and gas servicing.
- Housing Income Management – collecting rent and preventing arrears.
- Customer Involvement – opportunities for customers to be involved in projects and decision-making processes.
Inspectors will be taking a close look at how our services affect you, the customer. They’ll assess whether services are delivered in a fair manner to all customers, whether they provide value for money and whether they are easy to access and focused on the customer.
The inspectors will be asking two questions - ‘How good is the service?’ and ‘What are the prospects for improving the service?’.. You can get involved in helping the inspectors make their decisions. Further information will be available as soon as the inspection arrangements are confirmed by the Audit Commission.
We have a plan in place to prepare for the Inspection process. We want to make the most of this opportunity to show how far we’ve come as an organisation.
We’ll update you on our progress at roadshow events and in forthcoming newsletters.
