01/12/2008 - New members get on board

Halton Housing Trust’s Board of Management has two new recruits.

Sheila Large and Margaret Walsh will serve until the Trust’s AGM in 2011.

Margaret Walsh was appointed to the Board following the Customer Board Member Election process.

A customer on the Grange Estate in Runcorn for 14 years, Margaret has previously been involved in the Customer Newsletter editorial panel and Investment Programme focus groups.

She is currently undertaking a Chartered Institute of Housing Level Two Certificate in Housing in order to increase her knowledge of the housing sector.  Margaret’s main objective for joining the Board is to support the improvement in services to both present and future customers.

Fellow customer representatives Helen Bushell and Maureen MacFarlane were reappointed to the Board for a second term.

Sheila was recruited as an independent board member through the National Housing Federations’ ‘Get on Board scheme’ and will serve for a period of three years.

She has extensive experience of regeneration with a particular expertise in identifying community needs at neighbourhood level, working strategically with all stakeholders to secure funding and implementing community improvement plans.

She has worked with UK multi-national organisations on social responsibility strategy and has considerable experience of the cooperative and social enterprise sectors.

Committed to environmental sustainability and social equality, Sheila is a Board Member of Mersey Forest and Groundwork Northwest as well as the international charity Tree Aid and the Federation of Irish Societies.

Fellow independent David Felix has been reappointed as Chair of the Board. Dave Merrill has been appointed as the Vice Chair
