A local Housing Trust proved that they go to ‘marathon’ lengths to support their local community.
Nick Atkin, Chief Executive of Halton Housing Trust together with 14 other colleagues slipped on their trainers and took part in the first ‘New Balance English Half Marathon’, last weekend.

The Halton Housing Trust Team ran to raise around £2,000 for charity at the event, held in Warrington.
The half marathon got under starter’s orders on Sunday, October 4. All the team successfully completed the course with times varying from one hour 41 minutes to just under two hours 30 minutes.
After completing the run Nick Atkin said: “It was a tough challenge as over 9 miles of the course was uphill, but it was great to be part of such a determined team who all rose to the occasion.
“Halton Housing Trust is at the heart of the communities in which we work – and so we were delighted to be able to make a difference and raise some money for local good causes.”
The Trust’s efforts have raised money for its two nominated charities; Halton Haven Hospice, which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses; and HITS, which provides a unique range of services for vulnerable children, young people and their families.

David Atkinson, Chief Executive of HITS, said: “We are really pleased that Halton Housing Trust is supporting HITS and Halton Haven Hospice – well done to Nick and all the members of the Halton Housing Trust team who took part.”
Shaun Pollard, Director of Corporate Services for Halton Haven Hospice, added: “Halton Housing Trust’s support for the hospice has been absolutely crucial. The half marathon was just the latest in a series of events which enable us to continue to provide our special kind of caring.”
