Disputes between neighbours are the most common reason for anti-social complaints. Most are actually solved very quickly and are often the result of misunderstandings or one-off events.
To keep on good terms, it is definitely worth thinking about the following:
· Do you do DIY in the evening causing a noise that might be disturbing your neighbours, especially if they are elderly, have young children or work shifts?
· Are your children kicking a football against neighbours’ cars or into other people’s gardens?
· If you can hear your stereo or TV from another room when the door is shut, your neighbours will probably be able to hear it too
· Warn your neighbours if you are having a party or BBQ which goes on late in to the night
· Does your dog bark when you are out? If you aren’t sure, ask your neighbours
· If you think you might have disturbed your neighbours, have a chat with them and think about apologising
Each customer has an important role to play in stopping potential nuisance problems, so please think about how much your own lifestyle may impact on your neighbours.
