If you would like to carry out improvements to your home yourself you need to seek our permission.
This is to ensure any work you wish to do won’t make your home less safe and secure, reduce the value of the property or cost us money to corret work afterwards.
Be aware that DIY activities such as sanding and drilling may disturb and possibly damage products containing asbestos releasing fibres into the air that could put you and others at risk.
For some improvements we will ask that you use reputable and accredited tradesmen to do the work and we will visit your home to make sure alterations have been completed to safe, high standards.
We will also advise you if you need to seek planning permission.
Some examples of improvements you need to let us know about before you start work include:
· Putting up a garage, shed or conservatory
· Creating access for a car, such as, dropping the kerb or removing a wall
· Fitting your own burglar alarm, fire, electric shower, bathroom suite or kitchen
· Fitting a satellite dish (flats and maisonette only)
· Knocking down internal walls
· Putting up walls or boundary fences
· Loft conversions
· Relocating a gas boiler
· General internal and external alterations
· Fitting laminate flooring
· Installing water features that need water or electrical supplies
· Artexing walls and ceilings
