What is Supported Housing?

Supported Housing provides, good quality, secure and comfortable accommodation for customers who are of, and beyond, retirement age.
Each supported housing scheme has a dedicated Scheme Manager, available during the daytime Monday to Friday and is there provide advice and assistance
When the Scheme Manager is off duty each bungalow or flat is connected via a Warden Call System to a specialist Contact Centre – providing reassurance, comfort and emergency support.

This gives the security of having 24 hour emergency cover and assistance available to you, should you need it, from either the Scheme Manager or Mobile Community Wardens.


What are the benefits of living in Supported Housing?

What activities are available?

Many of the activities and events are suggested and supported by customers living on the Scheme. Scheme Managers are always looking for suggestions and volunteers to help organise the activities.

Regular activities include coffee mornings (and afternoons), bingo and quizzes. There is also a Christmas Party and other special themed events throughout the year.


What will I need to pay for?

When you live in one of our Supported Housing Schemes you will need to be able to pay:

  • Rent – This is the charge for the flat or bungalow. It includes the cost of managing and maintaining the property and also the communal facilities. If you are in receipt of benefits, state pension or on a low income then you may be entitled to Housing Benefit, which may cover some or all of your rent.
  • Supported Housing or Supporting People Charge – This charge covers the services that help you maintain your independence in your home including the Scheme Manager, 24 hour emergency cover, and access to and use of the communal facilities. If you do receive Housing Benefit your Supported Housing or Supporting People Charge will be paid in full directly to us.
  • Heating Charge – on two of our Supported Housing Schemes, Brunswick House and Queens Close, there is also a charge for heating and hot water which is included in the overall charge for the accommodation.

Where can I live?

We currently have three Supported Housing Schemes in Halton, these are:


Queens Close, Runcorn, WA7 4PF.

This scheme consists of 32 bungalows in a quiet residential area of Runcorn.

The scheme is within walking distance of many local amenities, such as Spar mini market, hairdresser/barbers, dentist, postbox, church,  social clubs, bowling green, train station to Liverpool, Manchester etc, bus stops to Runcorn old town, shopping city & Widnes,

Within the scheme each Bungalow has the benefit of new energy efficient double glassing, and renewable energy ground source heating, the first of its kind in supported living.

Accommodations overlook a private lawned and planted bedding area. There is a communal lounge for events organized within the scheme. There is also a laundry, guest room and a mobile library that calls every three weeks.
There is a full time Scheme Manager on site between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.


Brunswick House, Water Street, Runcorn, WA7 1DG.

Brunswick House is situated in Runcorn Old Town, within easy walking distance of the town centre and all the amenities that it has to offer.

The Scheme has 35 flats with a number overlooking the River Mersey.

There are a number of communal rooms, including a lounge, library, a pool room There is also a small central communal courtyard garden area and a resident’s car park.

Also available is a guest bedroom, which can be hired by family and friends for a small charge.

There is a full time Scheme Manager on site between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday.


Quarry Court, Widnes, WA8 7XL.

Quarry Court consists of 30 bungalows situated in a residential area of Widnes.

There is a central communal facility with a communal lounge and laundry facilities as well as a communal garden area.

There is a local shop nearby and a very good bus service to Widnes, Runcorn and Liverpool right on your doorstep.

There is a full time Scheme Manager on site between the hours of 08:30 am and 4.30 pm Monday to Friday.
