Halton Autistic Family Support Group LTD (also referred to as HAFS) has been selected as Halton Housing’s Nominated Charity of the Year, 2017. The charity is a voluntary support group run by families, which provide families effected by autism with a key support system. The charity provides a wide range of support for families, including: trips, outings, sports sessions whilst providing a safe environment for relaxation and play. Formed in 2001 supporting just 6 families, HAFS now support 100 families and are continuously receiving referrals. The charity also offer an advocacy service to help families deal with local and national statutory bodies, particularly vulnerable families. The organisation will represent them at all levels, typically in meetings with Education, Social Services, Health Services or benefits departments.
Many of the key services HAFS provide are funded by the organisation’s charity shop, located on 28 Church Street, Runcorn. The charity shop relies on donations to continue to operate. The charity are always in need of donations in the form of:
- CDs, DVDs and Games
- Household Goods
