Halton Housing’s Nominated Charity, Halton Autistic Family Support group has undergone a refurbishment programme to the value of £5400.00, thanks to Halton Housing and its supply partners.
Each year Halton Housing pledges support of materials and labour to their charity of the year. This year’s nominated charity, Halton Autistic Family Support group (HAFS) were selected by Halton Housing employees after an application and voting process. HAFS is a support group who provide families effected by Autism with a wealth of support, including: fun days out, advocacy services to help vulnerable families when dealing with local and national statutory bodies, advice, knowledge sharing and providing families with a safe environment for relaxation and play. HAFS rely on donations and any profit they make from their Charity Shop, which is located on Runcorn high-street; this enables them to continue to provide these key services to Halton families.
The refurbishment project, which was completed in just two weeks. It included: upgrading tired toilet facilities, refurb of consulting rooms, office meeting room, laying new flooring, upgrade of electrics, building much needed storage units, and painting throughout. All of which was made possible thanks to donations from our material supply partners Travis Perkins and Noble Construction.

Paul Whittaker, The Family Centre Manager from HAFS said:
“We are delighted to see the changes at the centre . We have received funding donations throughout the year which is fantastic in itself but to see so many Halton employees volunteer their time to refresh the centre is fantastic. We are extremely thankful to Halton Housing for all the support they have offered. The improvements to the centre will help the families immensely by providing a brighter, cleaner and more inviting space with much improved facilities. Not only have Halton Housing improved the only Autism specific community centre in the area, they have give us anew website, improved our logo and improved Autism awareness throughout the borough. I’m sure the 100 families we support will feel the same”
Cheryl McCabe, Halton Housing’s Corporate Social Responsibility Officer said:
“We have been working with HAFS for nearly a year now and by March 2018 will have donated around £12,000.00, through fund raising, expertise and materials. We have raised over £4000.00, built and designed a website, developed branding, and marketing expertise on social media. It is exciting to finish the year with such an exciting project, refurbishing HAFS premises. We are thankful to Travis Perkins and Noble Construciton who have kindly donated materials for the renovations, and have used 45 days worth of Halton Housing employees time over the two-week period to complete the works
Halton Housing has supported nominated charities since it formed in 2005 and has contributed the equivalent of £200,000 over the last 10 years to good causes including makeovers and refurbishment projects at Widnes and Runcorn Cancer Support Centre, Halton Haven Hospice, Norton Priory Museum & Gardens and now HAFS.
Every year the organisation helps charities in Halton through a variety of ways including voluntary work, financial support, fundraising activities and event sponsorship. Keen to provide staff with broad experience and understanding of local issues, Halton Housing is always open to helping different charities and spreading its support to some of the most financially challenged across the borough.
