On Friday 9th March, Halton Housing staff members will be taking part in a triathlon of events in order to raise funds for Target Ovarian Cancer. Halton Housing staff members will be taking part in a treadmill relay, a woodland walk and overnight stay out in Norton Priory’s Undercroft. This schedule of activities will see Halton Housing taking part in 24 hours of fundraising activity for Target Ovarian Cancer.
To make Halton Housing’s team members sleep out in Norton Priory’s Undercroft experience as spooky as possible, Karen Dowling, a local Spiritualist will be in attendance to do readings with the group.
Raising awareness for Ovarian Cancer is a cause close to many of Halton Housing’s staff members hearts, as one of their colleagues has recently been diagnosed with returning Ovarian Cancer. Mo Forshaw, who has worked at Halton Housing for just over 21 years was diagnosed with returning Ovarian Cancer late last year, and along with her family is leading the fight to raise funds and awareness for Target Ovarian Cancer. In honour of Mo, and her fight against Ovarian Cancer, Halton Housing have named their fundraising event #TeamMo.
Debbie Jameson, one of the Halton Housing members of staff who are leading the fundraising efforts for #TeamMo said:
“We’re all coming together in support of one of our colleagues, Mo Forshaw who has had an ongoing battle with Ovarian cancer. Mo has worked for Halton Borough Council, and then Halton Housing for 21 years. We, as her colleagues wanted to find a way to not only raise money for this fantastic cause, but also to show her that we are all supporting her with her ongoing battle.”
The #TeamMo fundraising event aims to raise as much awareness, especially in women around the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer. All funds raised throughout the day will be donated to Target Ovarian Cancer, who define themselves as: ‘…the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity. We work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer.’
To help support Halton Housing, Mo and her family in their campaign to help raise awareness for the signs and symptoms of Ovarian Cancer, donate! Early Ovarian Cancer diagnosis can, and in some cases is life-saving.
