Halton Housing today launched ‘Helping Hands’, an initiative which makes available skills, materials and resources to community projects and groups which benefit the Borough.
Halton Housing has been supporting local charities since 2005 through its Nominated Charity of the Year and Community Sponsorship Fund and now these hugely successful initiatives have been brought together under the new project name ‘Helping Hands’, a name put forward by a group of our customers.
Through Helping Hands, any project or organisation that can benefit the local community, is eligible to apply for the funds, manpower and/or materials we offer. The projects which are eligible for this kind of support have to be run by a not-for profit organisation based in Halton and applicants and their projects must be able to demonstrate that they meet certain criteria, details of which can be found at haltonhousing.org/your-community/helpinghands.
Cheryl McCabe, Corporate Social Responsibility Officer says:
“Since we started working with local charities in 2005, we’ve provided support totalling just under a quarter of a million pounds and Helping Hands will allow us to continue to make a real difference to the local charities that we work with, as often they don’t receive a great deal of funding. We couldn’t do this without the support of our suppliers and also our employees who regularly participate in fundraising events to raise funds for these initiatives.”
Debbie Jameson, Community Engagement Officer added:
“Helping Hands reinforces our commitment to providing continued support to local groups across the Borough. Having previously helped organisations including Halton Autistic Family Support Group, Runcorn Locks Restoration Society and Halton Haven, and supported projects including funding of kitchen equipment for a charity tackling food poverty in Halton, we’ve seen the impact we can have on the local community. To see how local groups can benefit from the skills and expertise of our employees is a real privilege.”
