Work will soon commence on Halton Housing’s new 100-apartment independent living scheme in Sandymoor, Runcorn after contracts were signed with Vistry Partnerships to build and deliver the scheme. Th
Halton Housing’s Barkla Fields development was bolstered on Tuesday 20th November with the completion and handover of four additional bungalows.
Located on Dundalk Road, the four adapted bungalows built by D.J Hughes Construction Ltd are the final addition to the hugely popular £6million luxury extra care development which was opened in April 2016.
Classed as ‘extra care’ accommodation, Barkla Fields is a mixture of 50 rented, shared ownership and outright sale apartments and nine bungalows, all providing high quality housing and support for the over 55s. This allows residents to live independently, but with access to an on-site care/support team as and when their care needs change.
The development offers a fantastic array of on-site facilities including a bistro, communal lounge, multi-function recreation rooms, office space and landscaped gardens and enables residents to enjoy a healthier, active and more independent lifestyle in a community, representing a modern alternative to a traditional care or nursing home.
Barkla Fields customers also have the option to work with Halton Housing’s own specialist support service for older people, where they can receive further support to help them live independently.
Nicky Harris, Halton Housing’s Development Manager said:
“Barkla Fields has been incredible to work on and the addition of the four bungalows completes what is already a fantastic development. The scheme provides a wide range of facilities for residents and with the onsite bistro, the Orange Tree, open to public the local community can enjoy the facilities too”
