This week, we are supporting the launch of the National Housing Federation’s (NHF) General Election campaign to #FixTheHousingCrisis.
The campaign is all about the housing association sector calling on the next government, to work with us to fix the housing crisis for good, by placing housing associations as key partners, regardless of which party wins the general election.
The #FixTheHousingCrisis campaign is calling for the next government to commit to five housing priorities:
1. Building new social housing.
2. Making sure everyone can feel safe in their home.
3. Investing in places to bring the country together.
4. Delivering a new deal for social housing with residents at the heart.
5. Developing a fair and effective support and welfare system.
Research from the National Housing Federation reveals that the Government must invest £12.8bn a year to finally end the housing crisis in England.
For the past 15 years, we have endeavoured to provide great quality, affordable homesfor people in housing need in Halton, but never more than now has the need been greater. We have ambitious plans to acquire and build 1,000 new homes over the next 5 years, and are committed to providing people with homes they can call their own, where they can lay down roots and thrive.
Almost all our properties are for social rent, which means that we are very dependent on government policy. This is why we are getting behind this vital campaign.
Working together, we will strive to help #FixTheHousingCrisis.
