Emma Bennett, a Starter Tenancy Officer here at Halton Housing has wonderfully rescued and adopted a neglected dog that was featured on Channel 5 series ‘The Dog Rescuers with Alan Davies‘ aired earlier this week.
Emma rescued Floyd the dog from one of our properties following an appalling case of neglect being discovered, where the dog had been locked away in a kitchen for extreme lengths of time and left in foul, inhabitable conditions.
Emma and her family have given Floyd a new forever home by adopting him and he’s now happy and thriving with a family that loves him.
In Emma’s own words, “Floyd is doing really well, the girls (her daughters) absolutely adore him! He’s doing so well, he’s like a little barrell now!”
Every year the RSPCA expects to receive in excess of 160,000 calls reporting dogs in the need of help.
Sharing your life with a dog is wonderful but it’s now so easy to give or get a dog on impulse. Animal welfare charities want everyone to stop and consider before bringing a dog home. Are you able to provide the long-term commitment a dog requires?
On average 1 in 3 dogs often end up at a rescue centre due to neglect or abuse caused by their owners.
Halton Housing not only want to ensure that tenants are safe, but we also want to make sure their pets are also looked after and treated well also.
