We’re proud to be supporting a new national campaign by the National Housing Federation promoting shared ownership alongside our commercial subsidiary, Open Door.
The campaign is designed to raise public awareness of Shared Ownership through a three-year advertising drive, across print, social media, digital to outdoor advertising and there’s a new website which is a first of its kind for shared ownership (SharedOwnership.net).
Shared ownership is another way to buy your home. You buy a percentage and pay rent on the rest. The remaining shares are owned by a Housing Association — however you’re living there, you can decorate it to your tastes, and you decide when to purchase more shares or when to sell. Buying a percentage means a smaller deposit and smaller mortgage. It’s a sooner first step on the ladder for lots of people. Usually, you can also carry on buying shares, to own it 100%.
Open Door is the brand for all Halton Housing’s Shared Ownership properties & the face of the private profit-making, subsidiary OSUK which currently provides in the region of 300 private rented homes across the North of England (including Halton) and new build homes for sale.

Okell Street is a development of 9 affordable rent 3 bedroom homes with easy access to Runcorn town centre and transport links.
Located in a popular residential area of Runcorn, Tannery Fields is a development of 71 new two, three and four-bedroom homes and bungalows.
The Old Forge is a development of 10 one and two-bedroom Shared Ownership apartments located just off the High Street in Frodsham.
Montgomery Road utilised modern methods of construction (MMC) to deliver eight new two and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent.
The Bower Brook Gardens Phase 2 development will provide the Tan House Lane area with homes for affordable rent and homes which will be managed by Halton Housing’s commercial subsidiary, Open Door. Open Door are offering homes for Shared Ownership, Rent to Buy and outright sale on this scheme. The remaining homes will be sold by Russell Homes, the building contractor employed on this development.
Work on the development is now underway, with the first properties due for completion in summer 2019. As part of a 3.5 year construction programme, these homes will be completed in phases.
Waterfront View, located in the heart of Widnes, is a development of ten 3 bedroom semi-detached homes.

Built on the former Grange school site, Latham Avenue saw the development of 83 one and two bed apartments, and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent.
Pine Road brought 42 affordable two and three-bedroom homes, one and two-bedroom apartments and bungalows to the Grange area of Runcorn.
