Aids & Adaptations
All Halton Housing customers can apply to have changes made to their home to help them live more comfortably and safely if their circumstances change over time.
As well as ensuring that our homes are safe and secure, we play an active part in our local community. As the largest landlord in borough, we recognise our responsibility. We work with local contractors, charities and social enterprises to ensure that our estates and neighbourhoods are places we’re proud to live in. We strike to continually improve our services and local facilities and support many local organisations and groups.
Each year we choose a local nominated charity to work with, offering intensive support in a variety of ways. We have been supporting local charities since 2005. We hold regular fundraising events for our charities, as well as entering high profile events in aid of raising money and awareness for charities such as: the English Half Marathon, and the Halton Five Mile road race. We also provide support in business areas such as PR, finance and corporate governance. Our nominated charities are key partners for us, and we actively encourage our customers and stakeholders to support our nominated charities.
Our nominated charity for 2017-2018 is Halton Autistic Family Support, otherwise known as HAFS. HAFS support Halton families with a child or young adult with Autism by providing them with a wealth of support services. We will be raising money throughout the year and offering support wherever possible for HAFS. We have many fundraising activities lined up, including marathons!
We have previously worked with MIND, Halton Haven Hospice, Runcorn and Widnes Cancer Support and the Alzheimer’s Society following a successful, year on year employee vote.
We supported Halton Haven Hospice for five years, and donated the equivalent of £100,000 through fundraising activities, and practical help. The Trust still strive to continue to support the Hospice where possible.
We also work closely with the local credit union and Citizens Advice Bureau, promoting their services to customers as well as offering on-going support and resource sharing. We have supported two food banks in Runcorn and Widnes, and we still work closely with them as the service is continually expanding.
