Healthy Start Vouchers

Healthy Start vouchers-you could be eligible

Did you know that you can get free vouchers every week to spend on fresh and frozen fruit and veg, milk, infant formula milk and vitamins? This is a fantastic way to make sure you and your children get the nutrition they need for free.

If you or your family are claiming certain benefits such as Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, or Universal Credit earning under £408 per month you could qualify for Healthy Start Vouchers. If you are at least 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under four, you are also eligible for Healthy Start Vouchers. Even if you’re not on benefits, but you’re under 18 and pregnant, you could still receive the vouchers.

There are two ways for you to apply; by either filling in a form online or completing a paper copy issued by your health visitor or midwife. The vouchers can be used in all sorts of shops ranging from supermarkets to greengrocers – just look out for the ‘Healthy Start’ symbol or enter your post code on the Healthy Start website to find shops nearby.

Universal Credit Claimants

If you are claiming UC and have children under the age of 4,  the only way you can claim Healthy Start vouchers is to call the Healthy Start Helpline on 0345 607 6823 and request a paper application form. You will need to return your application form with a print out of your most recent UC payment schedule. Do not complete the Healthy Start application online, as you may be incorrectly advised that you are not eligible.

If you have any queries or need further information about receiving Healthy Start Vouchers, make sure you call the Healthy Start helpline on 0345 607 6823 or email: helpdesk@tiu.org.uk.
