Pay your Rent the Hassle-Free Way

There are a lot of benefits to paying your Halton Housing rent via Direct Debit!

Did you know Halton Housing customers who pay their rent via Direct Debit are almost twice as likely to avoid getting in to rental arrears? A recent report carried out by Halton Housing revealed that on average 78.98% of customers who pay by Direct Debit avoid getting in to arrears, compared to a frighteningly low figure of only 39.76% of customers who don’t pay by Direct Debit managing to avoid arrears. The report also highlighted that people who pay their rent via Direct Debit are less likely to get in high level arrears than those who don’t pay by direct debit.

Not only is making the switch to Direct Debit a smart move to avoid getting in to arrears, it’s one less thing for you to worry about each month. By setting up a Direct Debit with Halton Housing, you can decide to pay your rent weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on what suits you best. Paying by Direct Debit is also a great way to manage your money if you are in receipt of benefits, especially Universal Credit, as you can schedule your rental payments to come out of your bank account when you receive your benefits, protecting you from arrears.

Switching to direct debit is a simple, but effective way of managing your tenancy. You can make the switch to Direct Debit via the Halton Housing customer app, under the ‘Rent’ section, or via Halton Housing’s customer portal. Switching is quick, easy and will give you peace of mind your rent is being taken care of each month.

So, what are you waiting for – make the switch today!
